Christoffersen will be defending winner of Planet Pages Super
Truck Series opener at Hawkeye Downs Friday
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA -- Art
Christoffersen of Toddville, IA will be the
defending champion for the opening race of the Planet Pages Mid-Am Super
Truck Series at Hawkeye Downs Friday night.
Qualifying starts at 6:30p.m.and racing at 7:30 p.m. on the half-mile
paved oval.
Christoffersen, who drives the
Deery Brothers Ford, will also compete in the late model class on the same
evening. He may end up running three feature
races. The top seven finishers from
the 30-lap Planet Pages Mid-Am
Stock Car and Super trucks feature will advance to a special
"Royal Rumble" match race, pitting the top cars against the top
trucks at the end of the night.
Christoffersen won two feature
races in the super truck series last year.His second win came in September at
Lake Geneva, WI.
Other Iowans expected to compete in
the super truck division are Dave Coghlan of Marion and Mike Depping of Dike. Former
series champions Gordon Swanson of Apple Valley, MN and Jerry Seibel of
Campbellsport, WI are among other top entries.
Swanson, the1999 series champion, is slated to drive the Discount Taxi
Ford while Seibel, the
2001 champion, will wheel the Lasik Vision Chevrolet.
