2 OPEN WHEEL SPECIALS AT HAWKEYE DOWNS IN 2003

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA  12/4/02)—Hawkeye Downs Speedway has scheduled two Open Wheel events in 2003. Both events will take place in June, and one may be nationally televised.

 

            Hawkeye Downs’ first Open Wheel event of 2003 will be a USAC Sprint Car and Midget Car Doubleheader Friday, June 6. Three weeks later, on Friday, June 27, Hawkeye Downs will host the Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars of the HOSS (Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series).

 

            The June 6 event is the second USAC Sprint/Midget Doubleheader and 7^th USAC event at Hawkeye Downs. It could be part of the USAC television package with Speed Channel.

 

            The June 27 Winged Sprint Car event is the fourth such event at Hawkeye Downs and the seconds appearance of the HOSS series.

 

            Hawkeye Downs Speedway will open its 2003 season on Friday, April 25. The complete schedule will be released soon.
