TURKEY DERBY RACE SET FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30
(Cedar Rapids, IA 11/15/02)—Plans remain in place for the “Turkey Derby” open Competition Auto Races Saturday, November 30 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. The race is open to all Dirt and Asphalt Stock Cars and Modifieds.
There
will be two divisions of cars, “Wishbones” and “Drumsticks.” The “Wishbones”
class is wide open, with the only limitation a maximum 8 inch spoiler. The
“Drumsticks” have a few more rules, full stock frame, full stock steel body,
any 8 inch treaded tire, and maximum 8 inch spoiler.
Eligible
cars in the “Wishbones” division include Dirt and Asphalt Late Models,
Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Sportsmen.
Eligible
cars in the “Drumsticks” include Dirt and Asphalt Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks,
Stock Cars, Thunderstocks, Cruisers, and Mini-Stocks.
The
“Wishbones” division will draw for heat position with the finish of the heats
determining feature line-ups. The “Drumsticks” division will time trial, and
then bracketed by time. Heats will then set the starting line-up for each
bracket’s feature.
Inquiries
have been received from drivers in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The race
will be held regardless of temperature, with only heavy rain or snow forcing
cancellation. The rain date is Sunday, December 1.
Pit
Gates open at 10am, Grandstand opens at 11am. Practice starts at 11am with Time
Trials at 1pm. Racing begins at 2pm.
