HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY SEASON ENDS WITH ASA LATE MODELS FRIDAY

(Cedar Rapids, IA 8/30/05)--Hawkeye Downs Speedway ends its 2005 season with the ASA Late Model Series this Friday night.  The "2nd annual Barron Motor Supply 100" will highlight the ASA Late Model program.

 

 

Also on Friday's program are Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Marines.com Hornets.

 

A field of over 30 cars and drivers from 10 states is expected Friday at Hawkeye Downs.  Local drivers Brad Osborn, Dudley Fleck, Kyle Hinrichs, Landon Cassill, Scott Wennermark, and Jim Ross will be among the entrants.

 

Stephen Leicht of Ashville, NC is the ASA Late Model series point leader.  Brian Campbell of Grand Rapids, MI; Chad Wood of Madison, WI, Kris Stump of Tipp City, OH, and Jason Dietsch of Edgerton, OH round out the top five.

 

Other top drivers expected include Ryan Carlson of Loves Park, IL, Travis Dassow of West Bend, WI, Peter Cozzolino of Avon, IN, Chase Austin of Eudora, KS, and Bobby Stremme of South Bend, IN.  Stremme is the brother of NASCAR Busch Series standout David Stremme.

 

With Barron Motor Supply sponsoring the night, their two weekly divisions, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, will run special big purse events.  The total of 75 laps between the two divisions is in honor of Barron Motor Supply's 75th anniversary this year.

 

The Marines.com Hornets, a new division at Hawkeye Downs this year, has been added to the program as a "thank you" for their tremendous support this year.

 

Grandstand Gates open at ASA Late Model practice starts at 4pm Friday.  ASA Time Trials are at 6pm, with Racing at 7pm. The Barron Motor Supply 100 is scheduled to start around 9pm.

 

Adult Grandstand admission Friday is $15, Senior Citizen and Student admission Friday is $10, Children

11 and under are admitted to the grandstand for $1 with Adult, Senior, or Student.  Pit Pass is $25.
