FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT AT HAWKEYE DOWNS THIS FRIDAY

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 8/18/04)--Its "Fan Appreciation

Night" at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday.  Several

prizes from track sponsors will be given away.  The

Tanger Outlet Bargain Hunt tour will be on hand, and

fans will be able to win valuable gift certificates to

Tanger Outlet Center.

 

        Friday's event is another Hawkeye Downs Speedway

"Neighbors Night," with residents of Blairstown,

Fairfax, Norway, Walford, and Watkins admitted for

just $1.

 

        All six "ASA Papa John's Cup I-Wireless Championship"

divisions will be in action Friday with heats and

features. 

 

        The closest point race is in the Miller Time

Modifieds.  Tim Plummer has a 6 point lead over

defending champ Bob Gase.  Brian Allen and Larry

Clausen are tied for third, 28 points out of first.

 

        The next closest race is in Women On Wheels.  Kandi

Floyd leads Jessica Hoffman by just 8 points.

 

        The Barron Motor Supply Super Stock race has been

close all year, but Dave McCalla has opened up the

biggest margin of the season.  McCalla leads Paul

Walder by 16 points, with Bob Ahrendsen third, 22

points out of first.

 

        Scott Wennermark has won four straight in Budweiser

Late Model Sportsmen, and has opened up a 20 point

lead over John Henecke.  Ahrendsen is also third in

Late Model Sportsmen, 34 points out of first.

 

        The two biggest point leads are in Performance

Concepts Late Models and Marines.com IMCA Hobby

Stocks.

 

        Brad Osborn, winner of 8 of the 10 Late Model

features, has a 64 point lead over his father, Denny

Osborn.  Chris Sevey is third, 2 points behind Denny

Osborn.

 

        Matt Poduska, winner of 4 of 10 features, leads the

Marines.com IMCA Hobby Stocks by 39 points over Terry

Shaffer.       

 

        Grandstand gates open and practice starts at 6pm

Friday, with racing at 7:30pm.  Adult grandstand

admission is $10, senior citizens and students

admission is $7, and children 11 and under are

admitted to the grandstand for $1.
