HAWKEYE
DRIVERS CLOSING IN ON CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH JUST TWO RACES LEFT
(
Hawkeye Downs, an ASA Sanctioned track, will add
William Beckman, Engle DeKock, Dale Fishlein, Mike Frieden, Mel Kenyon, Glen
Martin, Emil Merta, John Moss, Michael J. Neilly, and Dale Snyder to the
prestigious Wall of Fame.
The Nostalgia Stocks will join the Budweiser
Sportsmen, Miller Time Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron
Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, IMCA Sportmods and Go Karts
for a full night of racing action as drivers continue their quest for the Papa
John Cup/ I Wireless Championship in their respective divisions.
The Hobby Stocks are slated to run a make-up feature
from August 8 as well as their regular feature.
Dave McCalla has amassed an eleven point spread in
the Budweiser Sportsmen thanks to his eight trips to Coca-Cola Victory lane
this season. Andy Duggan is currently in second with Michael Weber in third.
Tim Plummer has himself in position to repeat as
track champion in the Miller Time Modified position although Chad Willet is
just six markers behind Plummer. One bad finish could easily change the
complexion of this division. Veteran
racer Arlo Becker is in third place, eleven points back.
In the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Bob
Ahrendsen has led the points virtually the entire season despite not having won
a feature. That changed last week as Ahrendsen bagged his first win. He
currently leads the points by thirteen over second place Kurt Bohnsack. Randy
Filling is right behind Bohnsack, in third.
Tim Dains still holds the lead in the Barron Motor
Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks with an eight point margin over Dennis Klinsky and a
ten point cushion over Rodney Grother. However, with two features up for grabs
on Friday night things could easily change.
Shaun Myers and Brian Beaty at tied at the top of the
chart in the Sunline Hornets with Brad Chandler in third, thirteen points back.
Beaty holds a 3-2 edge in wins as the teammates prepare for the final two
points races of the season.
Finally, in IMCA Sportmods, Tony Olson has a five
point lead on Arnie Reif and Ryan Luedtke who are tied for second; Brian
Kauffman currently sits in third. Olson has visited
Gates open at 6pm with Racing slated for 7pm. Adults
are $10, Students (12-17 ) and Seniors (62+) are
$7, and Children are just $1.00.
