HAWAIIAN SHIRT NIGHT FRIDAY,

KIDS BIKE GIVEAWAY SATURDAY

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 8/12/03)—Special promotions highlight the racing programs at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this weekend.

 

            Friday night is “Hawaiian Shirt Night.” Fans wearing Hawaiian Shirts will be admitted for just $7 Friday. One lucky fan wearing a Hawaiian Shirt will win a trip to Las Vegas, including 3 nights stay at  “The Orleans” hotel/casino.

 

             Saturday night is”Mysak Transmissions Kids Bike Giveaway Night.”

 

            Friday, six divisions will be in action, including five “ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless Stock Car Championship” classes. On the card are Performance Concepts Late Models, Miller Time Modifieds, Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks, Diffy’s Collectible Cars Legends, and Nostalgia Stocks.

 

            Grandstand gates open and practice starts at 6pm, with racing at 7:30pm. Adult Grandstand Admission (without Hawaiian Shirt) is $10, Senior Citizens and Students are $7, and Children 11 and under are Free.

 

            Saturday Bight’s “Tobacco Outlet plus Short Track Saturday Night” includes Special K Motorsports Hobby Stocks, Strauss Embroidery Women on Wheels, Rock Solid Chassis Modifieds, Tri County Car Company Hornets, Barron Motor Supply 2 Person Cruisers, and Papa John’s Outlaws.

 

            Grandstand Gates open at 6pm with Racing at 7pm Saturday. Adult Grandstand Admission is $7, Senior Citizens and Students are $5, and Children 11 and under are Free.

 

            There are only four weeks left in the “ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless Stock Car Championship” season. All point races remain close.

 

            The Budweiser Late Model Sportsman battle remains the closest, with just 10 points separating the top five drivers. Two time defending champ Curt Van Der Wal leads, 2 points ahead of runner-up Johnny Mudd. Andy Duggan is third, just 6 points out of first. Scott Wennermark is fourth, 8 points back, with john Henecke fifth 10 points out.

 

            Only 16 points separate the top three in Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks. Bob Ahrendsen has taken the lead, 4 points ahead of Jim Hanson and 16 points ahead of Arnie Reif.

 

            The Performance Concepts Late Model race is also close, with Johnny Spaw leading Mike Ehde by only 12 points.

 

            The Miller Time Modified point race is tightening up. Season long leader Larry Clausen now leads Bob Gase by just 20 points.

 

            The Duffy’s Collectible Cars Legends series resumes after 4 weeks off. Tom Frady leads Landon Cassill by just 8 points.

 

            The “Tobacco Outlet Plus Short Track Saturday Night” program has just 3 weeks left. Two of the six points races are very close.

 

            Matt Poduska leads Bryce Mitchell by just 8 points in the Special K Motorsports Hobby Stocks. Gwen Christensen leads Kandi Floyd by only 12 points in Strauss Embroidery Women on Wheels.
