ALL SIX DIVISIONS IN ACTION FRIDAY NIGHT AT HAWKEYE

(Cedar Rapids, IA 8/10/04)--All six "ASA Papa John's

Cup I-Wireless Championship" divisions will be in

action Friday night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.

Performance Concepts Late Models, Miller Time

Modifieds, Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, Barron

Motor Supply Super Stocks, Marines.com IMCA Hobby

Stocks, and Women on Wheels take to the track on

"Altorfer CAT Night."

 

        Friday's event is another Hawkeye Downs Speedway

"Neighbors Night," with residents of Anamosa,

Martelle, Morley, Prairiesburg, and Springville

admitted to the grandstand for just one dollar.

 

        The closest point race is in Barron Motor Supply

Super Stocks.  Dave McCalla leads defending champion

Bob Ahrendsen by just 2 points, or one position.  Paul

Walder is third, 18 points out of first.

 

        Another close point race is in the Miller Time

Modifieds.  Tim Plummer leads defending cham Bob Gase

by just 4 points, or two positions.  Larry Clausen is

third, 22 points out of first.

 

        Also close is the Women on Wheels division.  Kandi

Floyd leads Jessica Hoffman by 6 points, or three

positions.     

 

        Despite Scott Wennermark winning the last three

features, the Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen division

remains close.  Wennermark tops John Henecke by 14

points, or 7 positions.

 

        The other divisions are turning into routs.  Brad

Osborn, winner of 7 of the 9 features, leads the

Performance Concepts Late Models by 54 points over

Chris Sevey. 

 

        Matt Poduska, winner of 4 of 9 features, leads the

Marines.com IMCA Hobby Stocks by 38 points over Terry

Shaffer.       

 

        Grandstand gates open and practice starts at 6pm

Friday, with racing at 7:30pm.  Adult grandstand

admission is $10, senior citizens and students

admission is $7, and children 11 and under are

admitted to the grandstand for $1.
