LATE MODEL SPORTSMEN SPECIAL

AT HAWKEYE DOWNS THIS FRIDAY, JULY 23

 

 

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 7/27/04)--Budweiser Late Model

Sportsmen take center stage this Friday night at

Hawkeye Downs Speedway.  The "Budweiser Twin Features"

are headline the program, with two feature  races for

Late Models Sportsmen.  Its possible for a Late Model

Sportsmen driver to win $1000 Friday night.

 

        All six "ASA Papa John's Cup I-Wireless Championship"

divisions will be in action Friday.

 

        It's another "Neighbors Night" Friday, with residents

of Central City, Coggon, Paris, Troy Mills, and Walker

admitted to the grandstand for just $1.

 

        Fittingly, there is a tie atop the Budweiser Late

Model Sportsmen point standings.  Scott Wennermark and

Bob Ahrendsen are tied for the lead, with John Henecke

just 4 points back in third.

 

        Another close point race is in Miller Time Modifieds.

 Tim Plummer has taken the lead, just 2 points ahead

of defending champ Bob Gase.  Arlo Becker and Larry

Clausen are tied for third, just 16 points behind the

leader.

 

        Also close is the race for the Barron Motor Supply

Super Stock championship.  Bob Ahrendsen leads Dave

McCalla by just two points.  Paul Walder is third, 22

behind Ahrendsen.

 

        Kandi Floyd leads a close Women On Wheels

championship battle, 8 points ahead of Jessica

Hoffman.  Connie Binder is third, 12 points out of

first.

 

        The other two point leaders have healthy advantages.

Brad Osborn leads the Performance Concepts Late Models

by 44 points over Chris Sevey.  Matt Poduska tops the

Marines.com IMCA Hobby Stocks, 37 points ahead of

Roland Bohnsack.

 

        Grandstand gates open and practice starts at 6pm

Friday, with racing at 7:30pm.  Adult grandstand

admission is $10, senior citizens and students

admission is $7, and children 11 and under are

admitted to the grandstand for $1.
