RECENT WINS KEEP POINTS CLOSE IN SHORT TRACK SATURDAY NIGHT

(Cedar Rapids, IA 07/24/02)—Thanks to the
rainy weather that seemed to plague every Saturday night early in the season
CRD Promotions ran a Short Track Saturday Night make-up race on Wednesday, July
24 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
In
the Rock Solid Chassis Modifieds, Tim Plummer took top honors and in doing
so edged into a four point lead over
Derrick Bliss in the point standings.
Dustin lacey finished in while Dave Coghlan, Sr. who has several wins to
his credit this season, finished in third.
Dana
Scott motored to a win in the Wholly Smokes Women On Wheels, crossing the
stripe ahead of Deb Mefford and Shellie O’Brien Perry. Mefford currently has a
commanding lead in the division, some 54 points ahead of Dana Scott.
In
the Lacey plumbing Outlaw Super Stocks, the team of Brian Franks/Jim Hanson
finished ahead of point leader Doug Simon with Paul Nagle/Mike Lewis. Short Track Saturday Night points stay with
the car so multiple drivers can run the same car. Simon has a substantial lead in the points chase over Tim Dains.
The
car co-driven by Ron Dighton and Dave McCalla top the top spot in the
Automotive Fuel Systems Stock Cars crossing the stripe ahead of the Mike
Walsh/Kevin Korsmo entry. Mike Desotel recorded a third place finish. Walsh/Korsmo have a slim two-point margin in
the points over Dighton/McCalla after this race.
The
point battle in the Barron Motor Supply 2-Driver Cruisers is equally as close
with Matt Poduska/Paul Walder picking up the most recent win. That put them
within four points of the tandem of Shellie O’Brien Perry/Jerry O’Brien in the
points battle. Steve Luedtke/Mike Carver finished second in the feature with
Shellie Obrien/and Gary Brooks subbing for Jerry Obrien finishing third.
