UNIQUE PROGRAM GREETS FANS THIS FRIDAY

(Cedar Rapids, IA 7/19/05)--A very unique racing program will be held at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this

Friday night.   "Motor Madness 2" will feature a mixed

bag of racing, from the very professional "USAC Ford Focus Midgets" to the wild and crazy School Bus and Mini-Van races.  Topping off the program will be a special 50 lap points race for Hawkeye Downs'

Performance Concepts Late Models and flat track Motorcycles, racing on the Hawkeye Downs half mile.

The USAC Ford Focus Midgets will make their second appearance of the season.  Ronnie Wuerdeman of Cincinnati, OH won the first Hawkeye Downs race June 3, and is expected back to go for a sweep.  Other top drivers entered include series point leader Tate Martz of Rushville, IN,  points runner-up Stephanie Mockler of Westfield, IN, and Hawkeye Downs June 3 runner-up Derek Fisher of Columbus, IN.

The Hawkeye Downs Performance Concepts Late Models 50 lap feature is the longest point race of the season.

The battle for the championship is close, as seven time champion Johnny Spaw leads defending champion

Brad Osborn by just one point.   Chris Sevey is third,

18 points out of first.

Fans will be amazed at the speeds turned in by the flat track Motorcycles.  Earlier this season, the Motorcycles raced during the Hawkeye Downs Fair, and turned lap speeds nearly as fast as the race cars.

Rounding out the program will be two events that were very popular at the Hawkeye Downs Fair, School Bus races and Mini-Van races.  Several Hawkeye Downs drivers will be racing the School Buses, including Arlo Becker, Dave McCalla, Sonny Parker, Brian Franks, and Paul Walder, who won the first Bus race in June.

The Mini-Van field is led by Ray Spaw, brother of Johnny Spaw, who won the first race in June.

Grandstand gates open at 6pm with racing at 7pm Friday night.  Adult grandstand admission is $10, Senior Citizen and Student grandstand admission is $7, and Child grandstand admission is $1.
