BIG SUPER STOCK RACE, WALL OF FAME THIS FRIDAY
(Cedar Rapids, IA 7/15/03—The “Barron Motor Supply Super Stock 50,” “Wall of Fame” inductions ceremonies, and historic restored race cars are the highlights ay Hawkeye Downs Speedway Friday night.
Also on
the program Friday are Performance Concepts Late Models, Miller Time Modifieds,
Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, and Nostaligia Stock Cars.
As a
“thank you” to long time race fans, Senior Citizens 62 years and older will be
admitted free to the event. Adult admission is $10, Student admission is $7,
and Children 11 and under are admitted free.
Ten new
members will be inducted in to the Hawkeye Downs “Wall of Fame.” They are:
Jerry Blundy, Ernie Derr, Roger Dolan, Verlin Eaker, Keith Fleck, Al Frieden,
Curt Hansen, Irv Janey, Keith Knaack, and Lee Kunzman.
After
last week’s “Mid-Season Championships,” the point races are still very close.
Jim Ross
continues to lead Performance Concepts Late Models, but his margin is down to 6
points over Johnny Spaw, who has won three straight features.
John
Henecke has increased his lead in Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen to 18 points
over Curt Van Der Wal and Andy Duggan, who are tied for second.
Larry
Clausen has a 20 point lead over Bob Gase in Miller Time Modifieds.
Jim
Hanson leads Arnie Reif by 16 points in Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks.
Grandstand
gates open and practice starts at 6pm Friday, with Racing at 7:30pm
