PLUMMER HOLDS OFF CLAUSEN FOR MODIFIED WIN AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

FIALA TOPS HORNETS

(Cedar Rapids, IA 07/03/09)—The weather held off just long enough to complete the full program of 37^th annual Keith Fleck Miller 100 here Friday night. The skies threatened rain all evening but the raindrops stayed away until after the post-race fireworks were complete.

Tim Plummer picked up his second feature win of the 2009 season in the Coors Light Modifieds. Plummer stated inside row three and moved to the lead on lap six of the 20-lap feature. Plummer’s only serious competition came in the last five laps as point leader Larry Clausen tried to mount a challenge.

Clausen came up a bit short and had to settle for second place while Ryan Luedtke finished third. Arlo Becker finished fourth and Cory Houdek was fifth.

Brogan Fiala scored his first win in the Sunline Hornets feature after starting in row four. Nathan Chandler led the first seven circuits before dropping back with apparent mechanical problems. Fiala took over the point, surrendered the lead briefly to Shane Hanson on lap 14 and then cruised to the win.

Shane Hanson maintained second, Brad Chandler was third, Nathan Chandler fourth, and Brad Burhite fifth.
