BUSY WEEK FOR SHORT TRACK SATURDAY NIGHT AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

(Cedar Rapids, IA 06/22/02)--It’s been a busy week for the drivers, crews, and officials of CRD Promotions “Short Track Saturday Night” with three nights of racing in the span of about one week. In addition to the scheduled programs on June 15 and June 22, officials also scheduled a make-up race, which was run on Wednesday, June 19 to make up one of the previously rained-out events.

All divisions continue to pick up additional entries with some familiar names such as Randy Coghlan, Craig Bender, and Jack Vincent recently added to the rosters.

In action from Saturday, June 15 Jack Vincent, who races regularly in the Hawkeye Downs Sportsmen division, took the win in the Lacey Plumbing Outlaw Super Stocks. The Automotive Fuel Systems Stock Car feature was won by the Ron Dighton/Dave McCalla entry with no indication as to who was actually driving the car this time out.

Dave Coghlan, Sr. continues to dominate the Rock Solid Chassis Modified division scoring another win. Deb Mefford took top honors in the Wholly Smokes Women on Wheels keeping her atop the points chase in that division.

Matt Poduska and Brian Dvorak scored the win in the Barron Motor Supply Cruisers division and are steadily climbing in the standings.

Mike Desotel took home the hardware in the Automotive Fuel Systems Stock Cars feature on June 19, which was a special “Wednesday Night Edition of Short Track Saturday Night.” The Rock Solid Chassis Modified feature saw a Coghlan in victory lane once again but this time it was Randy Coghlan taking the win.

Wendy Carnahan picked up her first win of the season in the Wholly Smokes Women on Wheels while the team of Jim Beer/Scott Delsing notched win in the Barron Motor Supply Two-driver Cruisers.

On Saturday, June 22, Bob Ahrendsen scored the victory in the Lacey Plumbing Outlaw Super Stocks, the Ron Dighton/Dave McCalla entry finished first in the Automotive Fuel Systems Stock Cars, and Tim Plummer was a first time winner in the Rock Solid Chassis Modifieds.

Other winners for June 22 included Shellie Obrien-Perry in the Wholly Smokes Women On Wheels division with the tandem of Matt Jones and Brian Luedtke winning the Barron Motor Supply Two-Driver Cruisers.

CRD Promotions “Short Track Saturday Night” continues on June 29.
