HOSS WINGED OUTLAW SPRINTS JOIN HAWKEYE DOWNS CLASSES THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 6/13/05)--Friday night racing returns to Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night.

All six Papa John's Cup I Wireless Championship divisions will be in action, plus special race for Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars.

 

The Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series (HOSS) returns to Hawkeye Downs for its only time this season.  Drivers will attempt to break the all time Hawkeye Downs track record of 15.539 (115.837 mph) set by Kevin Feeney in 2003.

 

The HOSS series races at the premier asphalt short tracks in 7 states, and features drivers from Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.

 

Indiana's Greg Wheeler leads the HOSS point standings.

 Other top drivers expected include Indiana and Michigan Hall of Fame member Hank Lower, former AVSS champion Tim Cox of Michigan, and 2004 Indianapolis Speedrome USAC Midget champion Sondi Eden of Indiana.

 

All six Hawkeye Downs divisions will resume their points races Friday.

 

Seven time champ Johnny Spaw leads the Performance Concepts Late Models, just four points ahead of defending champ Brad Osborn.

 

Defending champ Tim Plummer tops the Miller Time IMCA Asphalt Modifieds, 8 points ahead of 67 year old Arlo Becker.

 

Hawkeye Downs' top winner this year, Kevin Korsmo, tops the Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, 12 points ahead of Martin Ballard.

 

Two time champ Brad Dvorak leads the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, 14 points ahead of Chad Siems.

 

 

In Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Roland Bohnsack leads former champ Ron Dighton by just 2 points.

 

Rick Gallo tops the new Marines.com Hornet division,

12 points ahead of Connie Binder.

 

Grandstand Gates open at 5pm Friday, with practice starting at that time.  Winged Sprint Time Trials are at 6:30pm, with Racing after Time Trials, at approximately 7pm.
