MILLER 100 WEDNESDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS
(Cedar Rapids, IA 6/9/03)—Iowa’s longest running
Motorsports event, the “31st annual Keith Fleck Miller 100,” is this
Wednesday, June 11 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. This is the first year the event
has been named in honor of Mr. Fleck, the owner of the local Miller
Distributorship and a longtime supporter of Cedar Rapids area sports.
The
event will include feature races for Hawkeye Downs Miller Time Modifieds,
Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks, and Duffy’s
Collectible Cars Legends, plus a 100 lap Performance Concepts Late Models
feature.
Points
will be awarded toward Hawkeye Downs’ ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless
Championship.
The
event will kick off the annual “Hawkeye Downs Fair.” Which runs through Sunday.
Fair admission and parking is free. Miller 100 tickets are the regular Friday
night price, Adults $10, Senior Citizens and Students $7, and Children 11 and
Under Free. Grandstand gates open at 6pm with Racing at 7:30pm.
Dudley Fleck
is the sentimental favorite to win the “Keith Fleck Miller 100.” His family has
either promoted or sponsored the event since its inception, but Fleck has never
won. He has w feature wins this year, including last Friday night.
Jim Ross
is the Performance Concepts Late Model point leader, 12 ahead of Mike Ehde.
Jeff King is third, 22 points out of first.
Larry
Clausen leads the Miller Time Modifieds points, 20 ahead of Bob Gase and 22
ahead of Jim Williams.
2000
champ John Henecke is the Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen point leader. Andy
Duggan is second, 12 points back, while Johnny Mudd is third, 14 points behind.
Second
year driver Jim Hanson leads the Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks points for
the second week in a row. Cory Houdek is 18 points back in second, with Bob
Ahrendsen third, 30 points behind the leader.
Tom
Frady leads the Duffy’s Legends points, 22 ahead of Landon Cassill and 26 ahead
of last Friday’s winner Eric Appleget.
There is
no racing Friday at Hawkeye Downs due to the fair.
