(Cedar Rapids, IA 6/3/04)--Six former Cedar Rapids
USAC winners are entered this Friday night when USAC
Racing returns to Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
Five of the former winners are in the USAC Sprint Car
division. Entered Friday are 1999 winner Jason McCord
of Anderson, IN; 2000 winner Brian Tyler of Fortville,
IN; 2000 winner Dave Darland of Lincoln, IN; 2001
winner Dave Steele of Tampa, FL; and 2003 winner
Michael Lewis of Noblesville, IN.
The other former winner entered is in the USAC Ford
Focus Midget Car division. Trenton Darland (Dave's
son) of Lincoln, IN won last year's race at Hawkeye
Downs.
The only former Hawkeye Downs winners not entered are
currently racing in NASCAR. Kasey Kahne won the
Hawkeye Downs USAC Midget Car race in 2001, and he's
now in NASCAR Cup. JJ Yeley won the USAC Sprint Car
race in 2002, and the USAC Midget Car races in 2002
and 2003 at Hawkeye Downs, and he's now in NASCAR
Busch.
Joining the USAC Sprint Cars and Ford Focus Midget
Cars on Friday's program are Hawkeye Downs' three half
mile divisions in "ASA Papa John's Cup I-Wireless
Championship" stock car racing.
The Hawkeye Downs point leaders in the divisions
racing Friday are Brad Osborn in Performance Concepts
Late Models, Bob Ahrendsen in Budweiser Sportsmen, and
Arlo Becker in Miller Time Modifieds.
Grandstand Gates open and Practice starts at 5pm
Friday, with USAC Sprint Time Trials at 6:30pm and
Racing at 7:30pm.
Adult Grandstand Admission is $15, Senior Citizens
and Students Grandstand Admission is $10, with
Children 11 and Under admitted for $1 in the
Grandstand.
