TWO RACES IN SIX DAYS AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

KEITH FLECK MILLER 100 KICKS OFF HAWKEYE DOWNS FAIR

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 06/03/03)—Hawkeye Downs Speedway will present two races in six days this Friday, June 6 and next Wednesday, June 11.

 

            Friday’s race is “Duffy’s Collectible Cars Night” with the added attraction of “Nostalgia Stock Cars.” Which are stock cars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

 

            Next Wednesday’s event is the 31st annual “Keith Fleck Miller 100,” kicking off the “Hawkeye Downs Fair.”

 

            Both events feature “ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless Stock Car Championship” points races for Performance Concepts Late Models,  Miller Time Modifieds, Budweiser Late Models Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks, and Duffy’s Collectible Cars INEX Legends.

 

            Gates open at 6pm for both events, with racing at 7:30pm. Ticket prices for each event are: Adults $10, Seniors and Students $7, and Children 11 and Under Free.

 

            Jim Ross is the new leader in Performance Concepts Late Models, thanks to his win last Friday. Ross has a 6 point lead over Mike Ehde. Jeff King is third, 10 points behind Ross.

 

            Two time defending champ Curt Van Der Wal leads the Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen standing, 12 points ahead of 2000 champ John Henecke. Andy Duggan is third, 28 points out of first.

 

            Larry Clausen is the Miller Time Modified point leader. Jim Williams is second, 18 points behind Clausen, while Bob Gase is third, 22points behind the leader.

 

            Second year driver Jim Hanson is the new point leader in Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks. Hanson has a 4 point lead over veteran Bob Ahrendsen. Another second year driver, Cory Houdek, is third, 10 points out of first.

 

            Tom Frady is the Duffy’s Collectible Cars Legends point leader. The veteran Frady leads rookies Brett Thomas by 22 points and Landon Cassill by 24 points.
