TEDESCO WINNER OF ASA LATE MODEL RACE AT ERIE

LAKE ERIE, Pa. (May 29, 2004) - In traditional short track fashion, Ryan Tedesco

fended off a beating and banging charge by Chad Wood to win the Erie 100 ASA Late

Model Series race at Lake Erie (Pa.) Speedway.

In the closing laps of the 100-green flag event, Wood was doing everything short of

driving through Tedesco to get the lead. Wood had his bumper under Tedesco's, at one

point nearly lifting his rear wheels off the ground. Several times Wood got a fender

inside Tedesco, and even got side-by-side with the pair beating and banging on each

other. Tedesco, however, would always come up ahead at the start/finish line, especially

when it counted at the checkered flag.

"Number one; it feels good too," Tedesco said, commenting on his first ASA National

Tour win. "It was a little close there a couple of time (with Wood), but everybody pretty

much ran clean. You are going to have a little bit of rubbing, but that's racing.

Sometimes you dish it out, and sometimes you receive it."

"I could have roughed him up a bit more," explained Wood, an ASA National Tour

regular and the only driver to compete in both of today's events - the Late Model race

and the ASA National Tour Erie 250 later in the evening.

"It was a good run. You know, we only had five laps in the car today (prior to the race),

so to come home second we're pretty happy. I had a real good car compared to

(Tedesco's), but he got in front of me and that's all it took."

When asked if there was anything more he could have done to get around Tedesco for

the lead, Wood smiled and said "A few more green flag laps would have helped."

In qualifying it was Jason Setser taking the pole. He drew the number nine inversion pill

which put Tedesco and Wood on the front row.

Unofficially, the top 10 finishers in the event were Tedesco, Wood, Doug True, Dan

Jung, Landon Cassill, Bobby Stremme, Scott Baker, Joey Logano and John Turnbill Jr.

There were 13 of the 26 starters finishing on the lead lap.

The ASA Late Model Series is next in action at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in

Mansfield, Ohio on Saturday, June 5. The American Speed Association is based in

Pendleton, Ind., and has offered stock car racing programs since 1968, including the

ASA National Tour, ASA Late Model Series, several regional touring series and the ASA
