DRIVERS RETURN TO TRACK FRIDAY
(Cedar Rapids, IA 5/29/03)—After two weeks off, cars and drivers of the
“ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless Championship” return to action Friday night
at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Six racing divisions will be in action, including
Performance Concepts Late Models, Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, Miller Time
Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks, Duffy’s Collectible Cars Legends,
and Special K Motorsports IMCA Stock Cars.
Grandstand Gates open
at 6pm Friday with Racing at 7:30pm. Adult Grandstand Admission is $10, Senior
Citizens and Students Grandstand Admission is $7, Children 11 and Under are
admitted Free to the Grandstand.
Mike Ehde leads the
Performance Concepts Late Models points, 2 ahead of Jeff King. Jim Ross is
third, 8 points out of first.
Two time defending
champ Curt Van Der Wal is the Budweiser Late Models Sportsmen point leader, 10
points ahead of 2000 champ John Henecke. Andy Duggan is third, 16 points behind
Van Der Wal.
Larry Clausen leads
the Miller Time Modified points, 18 ahead of Bob Gase, and 20 ahead of Jim
Williams.
Bob Ahrendsen and Cory
Houdek are tied for the Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks point lead. Jim Hanson
is third, 4 points behind the leaders.
Doug Simon tops the
Special K Motorsports IMCA Stock Cars. Larry Silbaugh is second, 1 point back.
Ronnie Godwin is third, 2 points back.
Tom Frady is the
Duffy’s Collectible cars Legends Points Leader, with an 8 point lead over
runner-up Crystal Horn. Eric Appleget and Brett Thomas are tied for third, 14
points out of first.
Upcoming events at
Hawkeye Downs include a six division racing program Friday, June 6 and the
annual “Keith Fleck Miller 100” on Wednesday, June 11.
