FIVE DIVISIONS FOR FIVE DOLLARS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, MAY 31
(Cedar Rapids, IA 5/28/02)—It’s “Five for Five” night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday, May 31. Five racing divisions will be in action, with grandstand admission just $5 for everyone 12 years and older. Children 11 and under are Free.
Friday
is round 6 of the “ASA Papa John’s Cup presented by Iowa Wireless.” In action
are Performace Concepts late Models, Budweiser Sportsmen, Miller Time
Modifieds, Barron motor Supply Super Stocks, and Foreman Hydraulics Legends.
There
have been 21 different winners of the 24 features this year, and the point
races are close.
In Late
Models. Brian Gibson leads, 6 points ahead of a tie for second between Mike
Ehde and Doug Hite.
In
Modifieds, Brian Allen leads Trent Ross by 2 points and Mike Schulte by 4
points.
Brian
Franks tops Sportsmen, 20 points ahead of defending champ Curt Van Der Wal.
John Henecke is third, 28 points out of the lead.
Doug
Simon is first in Super Stocks standings, 22points more than Brad Dvorak and 26
points ahead of a tie for third between Kurt Bohnsack and Jayson Scott.
Kyle
Heinrichs leads Kevin Foreman by 6 points in Legends. Tom Frady is 14 points
behind Heinrichs in third.
Practice
starts and grandstand gates open Friday at 6pm with Racing at 7:30pm.
MILLER 100 AT HAWKEYE DOWNS
NEXT WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5
(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA
05/28/02)—Eastern Iowa’s most historic race, the 30th annual
Miller Late Model 100, will be held Wednesday, June 5 at Hawkeye Downs
Speedway. Hawkeye Downs Performance Concepts Late Models, plus several entries
from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota, are expected.
Also on
the program are points races for Hawkeye Downs’ Miller Time Modifieds, Barron
Motor Supply Super Stocks, and Foreman Hydraulics Legends. The event kicks off
the Hawkeye Downs Fair, and is the only auto race at Hawkeye Downs next week.
Racing starts at 7:30.
