HAWKEYE DOWNS EXTENDS, REVISES SCHEDULE DUE TO WEATHER

(Cedar Rapids, IA 5/24/04)--Due to the unprecedented cancellation of three of the first four races due to weather, Hawkeye Downs Speedway has extended and revised its 2004 schedule.

Two additional races will be added, on Fridays September 24 and October 1.

The Saturday, October 9 "Challenge Cup" has been cancelled, due to the season extension.

The first revision is this Friday night, May 28, as the Performance Concepts Late Models will run two regular points features instead of the one 50 lap event scheduled.

Also, the two "Neighbors Nights" that were cancelled have been re-scheduled. Residents of Blairstown, Fairfax, Norway, Walford, and Watkins will be admitted for one dollar on Friday, August 20.

Residents of the Amanas, Homestead, Oxford, Tiffin, and Swisher will be admitted for one dollar on Friday, August 27.

The "Hochstetler Towing" Kids Bike Giveaway will be held Friday, June 18.

The rest of the schedule revisions are listed below.

Friday, August 27: Regular Points Races for Hobby Stocks and Women on Wheels (Instead of Season Championships). Schedule remains the same for Late Models, Modifieds, Late Model Sportsmen, and Super Stocks.

Saturday, September 4: Regular Point Races for Modifieds and Late Model Sportsmen (Instead of Season Championships). Regular Point Race for Hobby Stocks (Instead of Special K Invitational). Schedule remains the same for ASA National Late Model Series.

Friday, September 10: Regular Point Races for Late Models and Super Stocks (Instead of Season Championships). Regular Point Race for Modifieds added. Schedule remains the same for Mid American Stock Cars and Super Trucks.

Friday, September 17: F.E.S.T. Public Fireworks Display (No Races)

Friday, September 24: Season Championships for Hobby Stocks, Point Races for Late Models, Modifieds, Late Model Sportsmen, Super Stocks, Women on Wheels.

Friday, October 1: Season Championships for Late Models, Modifieds, Late Model Sportsmen, Super Stocks, Women on Wheels. Special K Invitational for Hobby Stocks
