RACING RESUMES THIS FRIDAY

(Cedar Rapids, IA 5/10/05)--The Papa John's Cup I-Wireless Championship resumes this Friday night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.  Six divisions will be in action in the third event of the season.

 

Friday's event is "KKRQ 100.7 The Fox Night."  The Iowa City based radio station has distributed thousands of tickets in the area.  Tickets will be available at the box office, but seating may be limited.

 

Adult grandstand admission is $10. Senior Citizens and Student grandstand admission is $7. Children 11 and under are admitted to the grandstand for $1.

 

Grandstand gates open and hot laps start at 6pm.

Racing begins at 7pm.

 

It's been a very competitive season so far at Hawkeye Downs.  Fifteen different drivers have won the 16 feature races.

 

Defending champion Brad Osborn leads the Performance Concepts Late Models standings, just 2 points ahead of seven time champion Johnny Spaw.

 

Kevin Korsmo, the only multiple feature winner with three triumphs, leads the Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen division, just one 1 point ahead of Martin Ballard.

 

Veteran Arlo Becker and defending champ Tim Plummer are tied for the lead in Miller Time IMCA Asphalt Modifieds.

 

Two time champion Brad Dvorak tops the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Car division, 2 points ahead of opening night winner Kurt Bohnsack.

 

Tim Dains leads the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, just one point ahead of last Friday's winner Roland Bohnsack.

 

The new Marines.com Hornet division is led by opening night winner Rick Gallo, 3 points ahead of Connie Binder.

 

Friday night racing continues weekly through Labor Day weekend at Hawkeye Downs.
