TRUCKS JOIN STOCK CARS FRIDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS
(Cedar Rapids, IA 4/20/03)—The Yellow Book USA Mid-American Super Trucks come to Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night, May 2. They’ll join the four weekly “ASA Papa Johns Cup Iowa Wireless Stock Car Championship” divisions on the program. Despite the extra division, there will be no increase in ticket prices.
The Mid American Super Trucks are Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and GMC Pickups. The series races at paved ovals and road courses in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. Drivers from those five states will be in action Friday. Among the entrants are Hawkeye Downs Late Model regulars Art Christoffersen and Wade Prasil.
After
one week of Hawkeye Downs racing, the divisional point leaders are Justin
Diercks in Performance Concepts Late Models, Larry Clausen in Miller Time
Modifieds, Johnny Mudd in Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, and Bob Ahrendsen in
Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks. All four drivers won their opening night
features and have 2 point leads over the runners-up.
Grandstand
gate opens and practice starts at 5pm Friday, with Truck Time Trials at 7pm,
and Racing at 7:30pm. Adult grandstand admission is $10, Students and Senior
Citizens $7, and Children 11 and under Free.
