2011 HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENER –TAKE TWO- THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

(Cedar Rapids, IA 4/26/2011)—Hawkeye Downs Speedway is set to kick off the 2011 season this Friday night, April 29 with action in all six divisions of the Papa Johns Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series. Opening night was originally slated for last Friday night, April 22 but rainy weather forced the postponement.

A full night of action is on tap with Performance Concepts Late Models, Coca-Cola Sportsmen, Budweiser Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and McGrath Powersports Legend Cars taking to the track for their first points event of the season.

Kids will want to visit the i-Wireless Lil’ Racers Car Club table under the main Grandstand to sign up for the free club and see what activities are in store for them in 2011!

The Front Gate opens at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:35 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:15pm with the first race at 7:30pm. Hawkeye Downs is pleased to have the Hanford American Legion Post #5 Color Guard taking part in Pre-Race Ceremonies again in 2011.

Adult admission is still just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, College Students are just $5 with a valid ID and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
