SPECIAL OPEN PRACTICE WEDNESDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

 

(Cedar Rapids, IA 4/21/03)—Hawkeye Downs Speedway will host an open “Test and Tune” this Wednesday night, April 23. The Test and Tune had been scheduled for last Saturday, but rain shortened practice to just under an hour.

 

Admission is free to “Test and Tune.” Charge per car to test is $25.

 

Hawkeye Downs Speedway opens its 2003 Season this Friday, April 25 with round 1 of the “Papa John’s Cup Iowa Wireless Stock Car Championship. In action opening night will be performance Concepts Late Models, Miller Time Modifieds, Budweiser Late Model Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply Super Stocks, and Duffy’s Collectible Cars Legends.

 

          Fans will see several improvements at Hawkeye Downs this year, including new Miller Digital scoreboard, Budweiser Infield Message Center, Alliant Energy Timing and Scoring, and Home Depot VIP Observation Deck.

 

          Several special events are scheduled at Hawkeye Downs in May, including Mid-American Super Trucks Friday, May2, USAC Sprints Cars and Midget cars Thursday and Friday May 15 and 16; and the ASA Racing Series Saturday, May 24.

 

          The USAC and ASA events are their only appearances at Hawkeye Downs this year.
