AMSTUTZ RECEIVES POSTHUMOUS ASA PROMOTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Cedar Rapids, IA 01/16/2006—Jim Amstutz, the late General Manager and Race Director for Hawkeye Downs Speedway and Fairgrounds, was honored posthumously at the ASA Late Model Series Banquet at Fort Wayne, IN on Sunday, January 15. Amstutz died last fall after battling prostate cancer.

ASALMS Officials announced at the banquet that the award would be dedicated to the memory of Amstutz and would be officially named the “Jim Amstutz Memorial Promoter of the Year Award.”

In a fitting tribute, Amstutz, who promoted Hawkeye Downs Speedway from 1999-2005, was posthumously awarded the 2005 Jim Amstutz Memorial Promoter of Year plaque.

All-Iowa Agricultural Association Board/Hawkeye Downs Race Committee members Paul Draper and Ed Emerson were on hand to accept the award on behalf of Hawkeye Downs and Amstutz’s family.
